    THE CENTECH GROUP, Inc. (CENTECH®) is seeking a Computer Security Specialist III to serve in Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Information Technology Service Center (C4ITSC) – Information Assurance (IA) Security Management Services support of U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) services contract. The person in this position will be responsible for applying and evaluating technical, operational and physical information security measures for various system and system activities. As such, the person will be responsible for and accomplish the following:

    • Assessing information security risks, threats, and vulnerabilities and makes recommendations for corrective actions
    • Designing, configuring, integrating and deploying open source and commercial applications and tools to support information assurance
    • Designing, configuring, integrating, and deploying open source and commercial applications and tools to support Information Assurance
    • Apply all aspects of IA in the areas of USCG Cyber Command Computer Incident Response Team (CGCIRT), certification and accreditation (C&A) and/or TEMPEST to minimize any type of loss and destruction to information technology systems assets and data
    • Researching and evaluating emerging information technologies relevant to information security; interpreting requirements and providing analytical reviews for system architecture, equipment and software; and providing recommendations


    • Capable of interpreting and applying U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) IA related documentation
    • Performing C&A, risk assessment and information technology (IT) auditing
    • Performing computer forensics, Intrusion detection, incident response, and penetration testing
    • Proficient in the installation, configuration and use of IT assessment tools
    • Engineer and design network security architectures
    • Proficient in the configuration and concepts in firewall, virtual private network (VPN), router, switch, wireless
    • Proficient in the configuration and concepts in audio/visual (AV) patch management






    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Communications related degree is required
    • Must have eight (8) years of directly related work experience, preferably for the USCG.
    • Additionally must have (be):
      • Knowledge of computer hardware and operating systems (Windows and UNIX)
      • Proficient in IA policies, standards, and best practice
      • Proficient in Microsoft Windows Server and UNIX/Linux administration
      • Convey information to technical and non-technical audiences verbally and in writing
    • Certifications/Training:
      • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) - required
      • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) - desired
      • SANS Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) - desired
