Overview

THE CENTECH GROUP, Inc. (CENTECH®) is seeking a Senior Oracle Database Administrator to serve in support of U.S. Air Force Cryptologic and Cyber Systems Division, Technical Operations and Infrastructure (TONTO) services contract. The person in this position will provide technical expertise in the analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance for existing and new, high-volume, data intensive systems. This position requires use of critical thinking and problem solving techniques to address complex database design issues, including data movement and replication among geographically dispersed components. The candidate must have strong Unix/Linux administrative and Oracle database skills.

Work location is Lackland Air Force Base (AFB), Texas and requires Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assessments, surveys, engineering support, installations, replacements (scheduled and unscheduled), initial troubleshooting, ticket escalation, and outage resolution.
  • Maintain, operate and support all the virtual and physical hardware and software infrastructure of the Information Networks assets including but not limited to:
    • Unix/Linux servers
    • Oracle Databases
  • Conduct proactive troubleshooting using system monitoring tools
    • Provide recommendations to the Program Management Office to improve the system’s reliability and performance
    • Implement approved recommendations
  • Provide on call and after hours support
  • Install and configure new Oracle servers including failover
  • Provide Oracle production database administration
  • Perform daily Oracle database administration duties to ensure maximum data availability and optimal database performance
  • Proactively monitor database conditions to resolve potential troubles before they impact customer operations
  • Perform application administration to include privileges, user administration, database tuning and backup/recovery processes
  • Troubleshoot and resolve customer trouble calls reported by individual users and individual program offices
  • Document work in ticket system
  • Document the database environment
  • Provide a list of the top ten (10) most resource-intensive queries on the server weekly and recommend ways to improve performance
  • Design a database backup and restore strategy
  • Document major changes to Oracle servers
  • Mitigate vulnerabilities on Oracle Servers, update Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M), and update System Security Plan in accordance to RMF
  • Configure and troubleshoot failover clustering in high availability operations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 6 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must meet DoD 8570 certification eligibility requirements (e.g. Security+ CE or higher)
  • Candidate must possess a current TS/SCI clearance as a minimum
  • Required Skills:

    • Two (2) years of experience with Unix/Linux administration
    • Four (4) years of experience with Oracle Database
    • Able to implement security posture (i.e. DoD STIG requirements)
    • Must possess above average verbal and written communication skills
    • Must have the ability to prepare, objectively review, and deliver technical presentations
    • Must have schedule flexibility to work varying hours (days and possibly occasional nights or weekends) when required by operational tempo

In addition to the required skills one must also have one or more of the following certifications:

  • Desired skills:
    • Oracle Database 12c Administrator Certified Master
    • Oracle SOA Suite 12c Certified Implementation Specialist
    • Oracle Identity Governance Suite 11g PS3 Certified Implementation Specialist or more recent equivalent
    • Oracle Access Management Suite Plus 11g Implementation Specialist or more recent equivalent
    • Other Cisco certification (CCENT, CCNA, CCNP, etc.)
    • Extensive experience using Oracle SQL and PL/SQL
